Clean energy jobs, or green jobs, are the jobs of the future. If you are a student just starting to think about a career, or if you are being forced to retrain, consider going green. Energy jobs and careers will be plentiful in many different areas, including many different talents, skills and interests.
These are the hot jobs of the future and there is no better time than now to get onboard.
Mechanic
Employees for the energy industries will be in high demand for many years to come. The government sees this and is investing heavily in the schooling and training of individuals to accommodate the growing need. This truly is a good time to get involved, no matter what your education, or work experience, is.

- Energy efficient building, construction and retrofit industries.
- Renewable electric power industry.
- Energy efficient and advanced drive train vehicle industry.
- Biofuels Industry.
- Deconstruction and materials use industries.
- Energy efficiency assessment industry serving residential, commercial or industrial sectors.
- Manufacturers that produce sustainable products using environmentally sustainable processes and materials.
Keeping that description in mind look over some of the different fields where clean energy jobs will be plentiful in the very near and distant future.
- Green Builders : Green builders will be in big demand for commercial and residential jobs, soon everything we build will have to be done with the earth in mind. We need architects, contractors and craftsmen in all different aspects of solar and general building.
- Hydropower : Designers, builders, laborers and engineers, they are all needed in this clean energy field.
- Auto : The cars of the future will be hybrid, electric or possibly biodiesel. New careers in engineering, designing and building these cars will be plentiful.
- Mass Transit : In my home town the first leg of our mass transit is finished and is a big success. In the coming years our light rail will extent into many of the neighboring towns, creating a lot more jobs.
- Solar Power : Clean energy jobs are plentiful in the solar fields. To make solar more mainstream engineers and designers are needed. To get these systems on the rooftops where they belong skilled craftsmen are needed.
- Wind Power - Even wind power is seeing a resurgence in popularity therefore creating a demand for contractors, installers, retailers and more.
- Geothermal Power - Geothermal is getting a closer look at an alternative energy and is in need of green thinking workers.
- Hydropower - Hydropower will always need workers and engineers even though it's not a big growth industry.
- Organic Farming - A new era of farming is upon us, out with the chemicals and in with good wholesome food, grown locally.
- Medicine - Medicine will also get a makeover as a greener way of live leads to more natural ways of healing.
- Biofuels - New ways of making and using renewable fuels is opening up many new areas for employment.
