Green In Kentucky

Is it time to go green in Kentucky?  It sure is, why not join in.  We will show you a little of what is happening green in Kentucky and then count on you to tell us the rest.

One of the very best ways to teach sustainable living is to start in our school systems.  It is wonderful to see the state of Kentucky feels as strongly about this as I do.  Green Schools Kentucky  works with students, teachers and administrators in 9 different areas such as energy, hazardous chemicals, green spaces and indoor air quality.  They understand that by improving the schools health conditions there will be lower absenteeism and higher test scores.

Green Build Kentucky is designed to promote energy efficient and green building practices among builders, subcontractors, suppliers and lenders.  This is a site to visit if you are in the building trades or if you are in the process of building a new home.

The University of Louisville has a pretty informative site about Kentucky sustainability, it's not fancy but it is full of info.  Kentucky Institute for the Environment and Sustainable Development (KIESD) provides access to research, news and events about Kentucky's environment and sustainable development.  While on their site flip through the back issues of the Sustain Magazine.  Everything you would ever want to know about going green in Kentucky is there.
