Green In Oklahoma

If you are looking for ways to go green in Oklahoma we can help. We continually monitor the state and post the events and activities of interest here. We can't do it all, however, and rely on your help to make the list complete. We all know it's time to go green in Oklahoma, so let's get started. Go Green Oklahoma is a government site with a goal of reducing paper waste and energy consumption from citizen travel. At the same time they are making the government more accessible to all of Oklahoma. Consider this, every minute you spend driving to town hall uses twenty times the energy of a minute spent transacting on the internet. Going green means using less paper so make use of this site and save a few trees. This is also a good portal for green events and activities in Oklahoma. Being green means you are a good recycler. This means everything, like paper, metal, plastic, glass, electronics, automotive and so much more. Earth 911 can tell you why we recycle this stuff and where. Many of these items can be refurbished and re-used. Before you add to the landfills find out if the item can be recycled or if it needs to be disposed of in special ways, such as hazardous fluids. Speaking of hazardous fluids, the Oklahoma Recycling Association has put together this newsletter about cleaning products and the green seal of approval in Oklahoma City. It is well know that environmentally friendly chemicals create healthier places to live and work. These pages are a must read for all green Oklahoma residents. I wish more states had sites like this one. The Oklahoma Sustainability Network is so valuable and so progressive thinking, it is a must stop for all those wanting to learn more about your local environment. The Oklahoma Sustainability Network serves to connect and educate the people of Oklahoma concerning the many aspects of sustainability. One way to help Oklahoma go green is to find an organization and donate your time, another way is to get a green job. Green jobs are the jobs of the future, jobs that will be in demand for years to come. My personal favorite way of teaching alternative energy use and sustainable living is to work with the schools. Make sure your grade schools, high schools and colleges are all doing everything possible to educate our youth. Hopefully you are well on your way to greening Oklahoma and hopefully you will be coming back here to tell us what you are doing.
