Green In Oregon

It's time to go green in Oregon, are you ready to get started? Good, this page is for newbie greens, if you are advance could you help me out. At the bottom of the page is a form where you can list green events and activities in Oregon. That would be a big help getting the new ones involved in the greening of Oregon. Portland General Electric has a nice looking site call Green Power Oregon. Are you familiar with the green power options offered by many progressive power companies around the country? You have the option, for a slightly higher price, to choose which green energy option you would like to receive a portion of you electricity from. This site will tell you all about green power, the benefits to the state of Oregon and your options. You might learn a lot by spending time on this site. I love sites that promote sustainable living in our school systems. Teaching the leaders of tomorrow is an important part of going green and this site, Oregon Green Schools, is doing just that. They are saving resources, one school at a time, with programs to recycle, reduce waste, save energy and conserve water. They are always looking for volunteers so check them out and join the fun. The more we learn about the chemicals in a normal household the more we understand there has to be a better way. The University of Oregon understands this problem and has a department called Green Chemistry. This site is not just for college students, stop by to learn what green chemistry is and why green chemistry is important to you and Oregon. The Oregon Green Expo is coming soon, June 18-20. If you get involved in a green expo I promise you will be green forever. These are life changing experiences and absolutely no better way to learn about living green. Here are just a few of the things you can learn about, on the site and at the expo, green jobs, green financing, eco and nature based tourism, green home building, sustainability education, organic gardening, water conservation, recycling and transportation. They have it all covered, all they need is a few more volunteers, people just like you. This should amount to a good primer course for how you can get out and help to green Oregon. As you do, feel free to post back here what you are doing so others can join in.
