Did you know Puerto Rico is going green? Yes, it's true, all over the
place, are you part of the action?
The Puerto Rican government has pledged to convert public properties into environmentally friendly buildings and they are starting with the Puerto Rico Convention Center and the Coliseum of Puerto Rico.
This is a big move and a big investment that will see big returns as time goes by. Once completed the expect a savings of about four hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year. This is good to see and as we look around Puerto Rico is going green in other ways also.
You may have heard that schools are going green, it's true, and so are teachers, parents and students. The Region 2 Sustainability page is all about what you can do to get your local schools active in environmental issues. Green schools are learning institutions that promote both ecological and human health in a community by fostering environmentally responsible behavior. Green Schools are projects that require involvement from many different parts of the community. The town leaders, the school boards, the principles teachers and students, they all need to play a part. Raising energy wise and sustainable living smart kids starts in the schools, and it's up to all of us to make sure that happens.
Puerto Ricans face the same environmental issues being felt around the world and need to continue working to solve them. We all need to become a part of the solution. As you work towards energy efficiency and sustainable living stop back and tell us where and how you are helping to go green in Puerto Rico. The more people we can get involved, the faster we can get this job done.
Tell us about your club, activity or event. Where are you, when do you meet, what are you doing green in your community? Do you have a special event coming up? We would like to do our part to help you get the word out.
