Have you noticed every one going green in Tennessee? Maybe it's time
you joined in on the fun.
One way to get started is to hit the Green Power Switch. Tennessee Valley Authority has made it easy for you to receive a portion of your electricity from green energy sources. Check the site to learn how to do this and why it is important to the state of Tennessee. It may also be a good time for you to learn about green power sources like solar power and wind power.
Tennessee has a few different chapters to the U.S. Green Building Council. This is the site belonging to the East Tennessee Chapter. These are excellent sources for finding the movers and shakers in the green building industries, learning about green jobs and staying on top of the green legislation taking place in your state. You can also learn about the LEED program and about LEED certified buildings in Tennessee.
The Green For All site has an interesting article titled Tennessee Goes Green. It talks mainly of green jobs and says Tennessee could gain more than 40,000 jobs in the renewable energy fields if certain incentives and investments are made. This is interesting reading a a call to action for all of you concerned about the greening of Tennessee. And another article about Green Jobs states thousands of Tennessee workers stand to gain from green industries. Green jobs are big all over the country and they are here to stay. This might be something you need to looking into.
We all know that eliminating many of our household toxic cleaning products is a big step towards going green. The University of Tennessee knows this and is the first university to be certified for it's green cleaning practices. This award is given by the Green Seal organization and they say UT is a leader in making the work of campus cleaning an environmentally friendly process. It is so nice to see schools getting involved and caring about our planet. These are great lessons to teach our children.
