Green In Texas

time to go green clock Have you heard that folks are going green in Texas?  It's true, isn't it time you went green, and helped Texas become a healthier place for everyone?  We are here to help you get involved by showing you some green stuff going on around you and how you can be a part of it.

The Texas Green Network meets once a month at various locations throughout the state.  Their goal is to advance the sustainable business economy.  They have many partner businesses and would gladly welcome more.  Just a few of the local businesses already involved are Green Living Everyday, Fuel Eco Systems, Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association and the Go Green Squads.  The members directory can be used to help you find eco-friendly merchants so you can support your local economy.  I made the mistake of clicking on the newsletter link, found the back issues, and two hours later I am back to work on this page.  Take a look and see what I mean.

Green Built Texas is another excellent site, one where you can easily spend a couple of hours.  There is a lot of green building news on this site, it was here I learned that Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth are leading the nation in Energy Star qualified homes.  That's pretty cool, like I said, Texas is going green.

There are many different ways to increase the publics awareness of alternative energy.  Donating an entire solar array of PV panels is one of them, and that's what Green Mountain Energy did for the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council.  The total array consisted of 56 solar photovoltaic panels.  A system this size will save the girl scouts about three hundred thousand dollars over thirty years.  The display also acts to educate the scouts and the parents and all others that want to see first hand how a large solar system works.

Everywhere you look in Texas you will find a reference to a group or organization going green.  They are going green all over the place, so go on, get in the game.  Once you get started there will be no stopping you.  When that happens come back and tell us what you do to green your part of Texas.
