Green In Vermont

time to go green clock Are you going green in Vermont?  We are going to take a look at how Vermont is going green and hopefully get you involved.  If you already are involved please skip down a bit and let us what you are doing.  By doing so, maybe we can get others to join in.

The Vermont Biofuels  Association promotes sustainable biofuels in Vermont.  Biofuels are fuels made from agriculture and forest products.  This fuel can be used to run vehicles, generate electricity and heat buildings.  Visit the site to learn more about this alternative form of energy and how it is effecting Vermont.  Green Technologies manufactures Biodiesel in Vermont.  This fuel can be used for many different applications and is worth checking into.

Building green is a phrase that is with us to stay and practically everyone is doing it.  The Vermont Green Building Network is just one of the sites where contractors, home owners and home buyers can find information about green homes in Vermont.  The  Vermont Green Home Alliance is another organization with green home information like what is a green building and what are green certification programs.  The world of green building is a fascinating one with something of interest for everyone.  You can see some of the new commercial green buildings in Vermont, learn about green jobs or find many green building ideas that you could use at your present home.

Universities can often be some of the best places to find the latest and most innovative green ideas.  They also give you a good idea about what is going green locally.  The University of Vermont has a page,  Greening UVM, that is worth your time to visit.  Take the time to learn about the five different buildings that are all LEED certified.  Trust me, that is truly a green accomplishment for any campus.  Learn also how they deal with recycling, transportation, energy efficiency and water conservation.

Start paying attention to the daily news and you will find "green" is happening everywhere you look.  It's easy to become involved, either just at home, or working with your local schools, churches or other organizations.  It really is time to go green in Vermont, and hopefully when you do, you will come back here often to let us know what you are doing.
