Green In Washington

time to go green clock It is very easy to go green in Washington.  Look around, the whole state is going green.  On this page you will find some of my green findings and a place to add your own.  We are giving you the opportunity to build a web page about your green club, event or activity in Washington.  Use this as a way to get others involved, all the better for greening the state.

Green Buildings are on the rise, in America and in Washington.  The  Green Building Site  is a valuable resource not just for builders and home buyers but for all Washington residents.  Take the time to see what makes a green building, see how you can improve your existing home, learn about the LEED program and visit the case studies page to see local green buildings.  That's just the beginning of what you can learn on this site and it's all good valuable green knowledge.

The very best way to spread the words of sustainability and renewable energy is to take it to the schools.  This should be taught in grade school and again in high school.  One of the best ways to teach this is to teach the classes in green schools.  Kids are sick less and learn more in healthier environments.  At Washington Green Schools they know these things and they want to work with you, and your local schools, to make Washington a greener place.  This is a web based program designed to reduce the environmental and carbon footprint of the individual schools.  The same principles can be taken to the home also.  Important topics like energy efficiency, recycling, toxics reduction, air quality and water conservation are covered, that and a lot more.

The Washington Department of Ecology has a nice page full of green  winter tips  that amount to some required reading for anyone thinking green in Washington.  The more you learn, the more it becomes a part of your life.  The more it becomes a part of your life the more you want to get out a do and the more you want to share.  Hopefully we have shown you enough to make you want to get out and do.  If so, take the time to let us know what you are doing and where.  Sharing this excitement is the best way to get other involved, all of us working together to make Washington a greener place to live.
