Live Green In Maine

time to go green clock What does it mean to live green in Maine?  If you already know the answer to this please take a minute to make a post, and spread the word about living green in Maine.  For those just considering the idea, check the sites listed on this page and see for yourself why this is such an important topic.

Build Green Maine is a site dedicated to providing all the information necessary to build a greener state.  Their goal is to generate green construction by increasing public awareness.  If you are thinking about building, or buying, a new home this is an excellent recourse.  It is also a helpful place if you are considering a green building job.

More green building and green job info can be found on the  Maine Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.  Here you will find listings for all kinds of green activities going on in Maine like the Green Eggs monthly breakfast forum, an excellent way to get involved in the greening of Maine.

Getting the news about sustainable living into our schools has several benefits.  One of them comes from improving the conditions our children attend classes in, and when this is done, our kids are sick less and score better on tests.  Another benefit comes from teaching kids, at an early age, about recycling, renewable energy and sustainable living.  So much of going green is just replacing bad habits with good ones, and the younger we start that the easier it is.  The Maine Energy Education Program has a site full of good reading for parents, students and teachers.  Their Green Schools newsletters are worth reading also.

There you have a few ways to help get you motivated, now it's up to you.  Do you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution?  Let us know about how you are living green in Maine.
