Hi, when my daughter attended Aragon High School in San Mateo she was in the Recycling club. They teamed up with Borel Middle School and Bayside Elementary School to collect shoes. That’s right, they collected shoes. Those that were still usable went to St. Vincent de Paul and the ones that had seen better days went to Nike for their NikeGrind recycling program.
Now that was a whole bunch of rubber and plastic that got re-used or recycled, and stayed out of the landfill. People all over the country can do this on their own, donate usable shoes to a nearby thrift store and find a Nike location to take the worn out ones. No need to ever throw shows away again.
Thanks Ted. What an outstanding idea, recycling shoes. It sound like a lot of work went into this drive and that it turned out to be successful. Congratulations to all of you.
