Saving Money

Saving money in a difficult economy

Like many Americans in this position, I live paycheck to paycheck. I admit it, I have never been good at saving money. Since the economic downturn I have really been questioning the way I have been living. I was always one to just believe it would all work out and there is always going to be enough.

I still feel this way of course, but now I have realized some things over this past year or so about the way I have been living. I had to ask myself many questions like: What the heck is going on?!

What does money really represent to me?

What is going on with me and my relationship to wealth, abundance and prosperity?

Of course I have watched the secret and read many books on prosperity, but it is still an issue for me. I did realize that before I could save money during a recession, I needed to know where our money is going. unplanned spending has added to the financial burden. I knew I needed to Plan a budget~Getting clear what I owed, by writing it all down seems to help.

What I make and what I spend. Learning and being aware of my income and debts, and learn my true disposable income. Next, I resolved to spend less than I earn, and put the rest in a savings account.

I would like to Pay off my debts if it is at all possible. Paying so much in credit card and other debt payments a month has been a burden, I am working on developing a debt elimination plan. The initial out-of-pocket expense is high. But in the long run, I can save money every month, and have extra cash to survive this recession.

I do Eat out less. I usually bring a green drink to work for lunch, and then have dinner at home. However for alot of people it is hard to not eat out in our busy life's. Excessive eating out can put a serious dent in your budget. Spending $5 a day on lunch equals $100 a month. Bring your own lunch and put the extra cash in savings.

Here are some other tips to think about:

You can also consider brewing your own coffee, and if you must dine out, share an entree. The portions are usually large enough for two people to share.

Buy Used and sale what you don't use.....Nowadays, any and everything can be found on classified ad sites like Craig's list, and online auction sites. Whether you're looking for an electronic item, clothes or household items, browse the selections offered at thrift stores, consignment shops and yard sales.

Plan to vacation at home. If you need to relax support the local day Spa and get a facial~Everyone needs a break. Unfortunately, if you want to save money during a recession, spending money on lavish vacations isn't the answer. Take short weekend trips or plan a vacation at home, local spa day retreat, or just visit nearby attractions. You'll save money on lodging and food.

Look for ways to make extra money. If you have Internet access and the motivation, you can make an extra $100 a week from home. Profitable work at home businesses include freelance writing, affiliate marketing, home day care, or build your own internet site like I did and work from home!
